I was so excited when El who I have known for the last 7 years told me that Liam had proposed to her on holiday in Temecula in California. We had been waiting for him to pop the question for a while and my selection of wedding magazines was just waiting for this moment! I was even more excited when she told me that she planned to get married back in Temecula in a vineyard there, when she asked me whether we would like to photograph the wedding we were there like a shot!
So fast forward a few years of planning her dream wedding we flew out to California for the big day. I met El in the morning surrounded by her 6 bridesmaids, mum and nan, things were surprisingly calm but the levels of glee were extreme. All the bridesmaids and El had their own sock monkeys overseeing getting ready procedures. El’s stunning gown was bought from Choola in Sheffield. It was amazing, floaty and covered in small flowers and fitted her Forrest Gump wedding and flower fairy expectations. She accessorised the gown with a hair band, bracelet and a necklace from Tiffanys – a present from Liam.
El’s bridesmaids wore a mix of blue and taupe gowns, all slightly different styles. The flowers were beautiful with hydrangeas, dahlias, roses and thistles. The giant limo soon turned up to take us all to Keyways Winery for the wedding, I heard all about the hen party in LA including how they all met Frank Lampard and Christine Bleakley and invited them to the wedding!
The ceremony was conducted in the grounds of the vineyard and conducted itself by Liam’s brother James, along with a reading by Marie-Anne, one of the bridesmaids, the ceremony was really personal and everyone cheered when they were announced husband and wife. Guests cooled off in the winery and sampled some of the wine for themselves after the ceremony whilst we took the happy couple off into the vineyard for some photos.
It was then onto Temecula Creek Inn via a slightly raucous journey in a bus with some interesting songs only a marine would know! The Inn has an amazing old building in the grounds called the Stonehouse surrounded by stunning grounds – the perfect location for the reception. Guests all signed a Mickey and Minnie mouse when they arrived and sampled some cocktails. The outdoor tables were decorated with flowers, California postcards and favours were handmade knitted boxes made by El’s nan with tiny bracelets and hot sauce for the men. El’s mum had also made some union jack bunting. The guests gathered on the lawn to see the most amazing magician (Kevin Viner) do some tricks, he certainly was impressive.
The meal began with a toast from El’s mum, guests then sampled a fantastic menu including a special mashed potato martini bar – something only Eleanor could have decided on as it is her favourite food!
As the sun went down guests made smores over an open fire (an American tradition involving marshmallows!), there was also an ice cream bar and cute cupcakes for everyone. We left the guests dancing the night away under the full moon and twinkling lights of the Stonehouse.
With so many friends and family around them in the US it is clear how much El & Liam are loved, they are such a fantastic couple and El is one of the most kindhearted, excitable and lovable people I know.
We wish them a lifetime of happiness and mash!
