If there was one way of describing Abi & Chris’ big day it would be party ring biscuits and thrift!
I was very excited to meet Abi and her bridesmaids on the morning of her wedding day as I would see for the first time her amazing bespoke gown made by the lovely Linda at No 9 Bridal Couture. Abi won the handmade gown in a competition. The dress was just stunning with layers of tulle the bodice was encrusted with hand beading done by Jane at HF Couture who also made Abi’s pretty hairband.
Abi’s bridesmaids complemented her with pretty blue floral dresses. It was then time to jump in the car for Sheffield Town Hall where the ceremony took place. The happy pair managed to make the ceremony really personal with great readings that really represented them as a couple.
We had time for a quick detour to Weston Park for some photos before we went to the reception venue. “Flash” on the edge of Stannington are converted farm buildings owned by Abi’s family. The converted barn, marquee and grounds were adorned with candles and handmade bunting. Abi bravely donned some pink wellies for a few photos in the fields before we joined the rest of the wedding party for some group photos.
The guests sipped Pimms before they were invited into the marquee for tea and cake. Tables were set with vintage crockery and each guest had a party biscuit- the significance of this is that Chris had planned to propose with a party biscuit but couldn’t find any on holiday so he proposed with the real ring instead!
Guests enjoyed a speeches sweepstake and a guess the caption competition during the meal. Speeches were lovely with reference to just how much work Lesley and Tony (Flash’s owners) had put into making their wedding day special.
A band played in the evening and guests lit candles in the grounds as the full moon appeared.
It was a perfect day and Abi and Chris are such a lovely couple. I remember Abi saying to me she wasn’t nervous before the wedding as she knew everything felt right and as if it was the most natural thing to be doing. This just shows how much of a perfect couple they are and we hope that they “bring each other sunshine” for the rest of their lives.
p.s – thanks Lesley for the takeaway cupcakes and scones – yum!
