A Royal Wedding in Yorkshire

Wow, where do I start with this post? If I start at the beginning…

It all began when my good friend Emma who is a wedding planner (Wedding Daze) and I were having a weekly catch up chai tea in Starbucks. We were thinking about the Royal Wedding in April and the potential sort of looks the couple could go for when planning their wedding. Would they like to have a traditional cream tea with dainty crockery, scones and Pimms? Or maybe Kate will try and shake up tradition by going for a funky style, incorporating the colours of the union jack and tucking into a nice pork pie? Well there was only one way to show the couple how to do this – style our very own Royal Wedding – the Yorkshire way!

As excited as we were there was so much to sort out but luckily we know some of the best wedding suppliers in Sheffield who were only too happy to help out, many of them had even designed accessories around the wedding and were keen to show these off. Cusworth Hall in Doncaster provided the setting for the day – it is set in acres of beautiful grounds and has some stunning rooms for a wedding fit for a princess, they even have some memorabilia from past Royal Weddings which we borrowed for a few shots.

We then had to find our very own Kate and Wills – when Kaytie and David emailed through pictures of themselves we knew we had found our perfect pair. They really rocked their looks well and when David smiled we were all taken aback by how much he looks like Wills – even to the point of finding him more attractive!

On the day Emma set up and styled two different looks for our couple, one was a traditional English country garden theme with cakes, tea, bunting and lace and the other look was a modern “Cool Britannia” theme with a short dress, huge red petticoats and props a plenty!

All of the suppliers involved are absolutely fantastic and I truly don’t think any Royal Wedding would be the same without them! Special thanks goes as always to Emma from the Wedding Daze whose organisational skills and stamina knows no boundaries – she is a total star and any couple needing help with their wedding planning and styling should contact her as she is worth her weight in gold.
